I had been researching different subscription box services for a few months when I stumbled upon Ipsy, formerly called My Glam. For $10 per month, the company will send you deluxe sized samples and full-size products from different cosmetic brands. I was excited to try it and for $10 I decided that Ipsy was worth a shot. The other day I finally received my first bag and wanted to share it with all of you.
Interestingly enough I received all the products from the sample bag online, so I’m using the photo from ipsy.com to show all the products.
1.) The first item I received was a deluxe sample size Cailyn brand lip balm in Big Apple. It comes with a fun applicator in the lid, which I thought was a clever packaging idea. The consistency of the product reminded me more of a lipstick than a balm, and the color is very opaque. I would definitely not advertise this product as a lip balm. I tried it when I opened my bag and the color did run a little, but I think it would be better if I used a little liner or concealer to keep the product in place. I would rate this product as good, but not great.
2.) The second product was a deluxe sample of the It’s So Big! mascara by Elizabeth Mott. The product is advertised as a volumizing mascara. I did enjoy the product, but I definitely didn’t see it as volumizing. It was more of a lengthening mascara with a light coverage. If that’s what you’re looking for I would recommend this, but if you’re looking for thick, covered lashes this may not be for you.
3.) I also received a NYX eyeshadow in Cryptonite. I have not used this shadow yet, but it gives a good swatch and is a dark gunmetal shade with silver sparkles. I believe this product is full sized.
4.) I also received a Butter London nail lacquer in La Moss. Let me tell you, I LOVE this color and am very pleased that this is the shade I received. I would say this is my favorite product in this month’s bag.
5.) Last, I got a full sized Star Looks eyeliner in Obsidian. When I tried this it seemed like your basic kohl eye pencil, but I’m not complaining because in my opinion one can never go wrong with a little black liner.
